Sanpada is a residential node developed by CIDCO since late 1980s.

History

In the 1980s, Sanpada was undeveloped; insect life was abundant and marshes and grasslands abounded.

Sanpada had problems in the past, such as pollution from the Herdillia chemical plant, black dust from the rock mining, concrete from new developments, automobile exhaust, water shortages, power brownouts and blackouts and high crime rates. Now many things have changed.

Location

The housing market is strong, creating a real estate boom, and property values are rising. The population is growing. This quiet suburb is now a bustling residential area with traffic congestion, inadequate public transit and no open space.Sanpada was a landlocked area with a highway on one side and railway lines on the other two sides, but Sanpada has achieved such success that area opposite the Juinagar station is considered part of the town, in hopes of achieving similar popularity. Sanpada has expanded rapidly, and new building projects springing up every other day. Sanpada is a rapidly developing residential hub with malls, supermarkets and major amenities. It's isolated from noise and hassle of a commercial area.

Sanpada has been divided into sectors based on the average size of available housing units in each neighborhood. O.P.G Tower, Paradise Society, Millennium towers, Aradhana CHS are housing societies of Sanpada. The park in Sector-7 is being used by Sanpadians for playing cricket matches occasionally but is filled with joggers every day.

Business

Baskin and Robbins has opened one of their ice cream parlour, which is located at sector-7 Moraj Residency.Local businesses include a mini digital theater with two screens (Funsquare), a Monginis pasty shop, a sweetmeat shop for snacks (Badhai and Jaslok), a mini vegetable market, a mini grocery store (Foodland), driving schools (Maruti, Pravasi, Tanvi), auto mechanics, novelty stores, and Kottakal Arya Vaidya Sala, an Ayurvedic shop in Sec 15. Bhagat Tarachand has opened their new restaurant near Morarj Residency in sector-7.

Transportation

Sanpada has sparse bus routes within its residential area, but has good railway connections with CST, Thane and Panvel. Recently a Fly Over has been built, connecting Sampada with with Palm Beach Road.
