James Hildreth (born September 9, 1984 in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire ) is an English cricketer who plays for Somerset County Cricket Club. He attended Millfield School, Somerset. He is a right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium pace bowler. Hildreth represented England at all youth levels including the 2003-04 Under-19 World cup held in Bangladesh. He made his first-class debut in 2003 and has been a regular member of the side since the start of the 2004 season.

Notable achievements include winning the 2005 Twenty-20 Cup competition with Somerset, scoring his debut first class century with 101 off 113 balls for Somerset against Durham County Cricket Club (against a bowling attack which included Shoaib Akhtar). In 2006 Hildreth crashed a career-best unbeaten 227 (off 269 balls) as Somerset piled up 625-8 before declaring against Northamptonshire at Taunton. He caught out Australian captain and International Cricket Council's No.1 ranked batsman in the world, Ricky Ponting while appearing as a Substitute during the 1st Test in the 2005 Ashes series in England. In 2007, Hildreth helped Somerset win promotion back to the first division of the County Championship as champions of division two.

Hildreth had played for all of the England youth teams, as well as in the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2003-04. In 2004 he hit 101 off 113 balls for Somerset against Durham, and scored 210 in his last Under-19 Test. In June 2005 he hit 38 Somerset defeated Australia. In January 2008, Hildreth was named in the England Lions squad for the Duleep Trophy tour to India, where he will play alongside members of the England 1st XI including Monty Panesar and Liam Plunkett.
