Training and Development Agency for Schools

Training and Development Agency for Schools

The Teacher and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) is responsible for the initial and in-service training of teachers and other school staff in England. It is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

The TDA plays a central role in supporting the workforce to help children and young people meet the outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda. Their guiding vision is: developing people, improving young lives.

The TDA works with the DCSF to ensure:

*High quality teaching and learning in every classroom, by securing a sufficient supply of new teachers and effective continuing professional development
*Ongoing workforce reform in schools to secure effective staff deployment that addresses local needs so teachers, schools and children realise the benefits
*Closer cooperation between, and integration of, schools and other children’s services to meet the needs of children and families
*Support for the development and roll out of extended schools
