The River Sow is a tributary of the
River Trentin Staffordshire, England.
The river rises to the south of
Newcastle-under-Lyme, flows south and is the major river through Stafford. At Baswichit is joined by the River Penk, before meeting the River Trenton the edge of the Shugboroughestate at Essex Bridge. It is also near Bishops Offley and Tixall.
The river Sow was mentioned in a song by local folk singer Tom (quality beard) Sofa, and is rumoured to be the location for the forthcoming man-made Stafford Beach project.
The mayor of Stafford briefly shut the Stafford Beach project down due do the hightened risk of shark attack, although the threat was averted by a local fisherman, a scientist and the chief of police. (2008 TPT)
