East York Collegiate Institute is a school of almost 2000 pupils in central-east Toronto at the corner of Coxwell and Cosburn Avenues. Established in 1927, the school was originally known as East York High School, however soon merged with a local vocational school and extended the building capacity; gaining its modern day name a decade later.

Besides having a strong academic reputation, EYCI has an accomplished athletics program, with recent strong showings by its Senior Boys' Football team, Senior Boys' Hockey team, as well as both the Junior and Senior Boys' Soccer squads. Historically from the 1950s to the 1980s, the school was a perennial powerhouse in Canadian-rules Football (York League) and Baseball (TSSAA).

Feeder schools for East York Collegiate include Cosburn Middle School, Westwood Middle School (formerly Westwood Junior High), D.A. Morrison Junior High (formerly Oak Park Junior High) and G.A. Brown Middle School (formerly St.Clair Junior High).

East York was one of three public high schools located within the former semi-autonomous East York. Along with Marc Garneau C.I. and Leaside Secondary School, with the latter having an extremely competitive football rivalry.

Famous alumni include former TV anchor Ben Chin and Rob Butler (Toronto Blue Jays).
