The Spot / Smelly Tongues

The Spot / Smelly Tongues

"The Spot" was the debut release of Snakefinger on Ralph Records in 1978. Snakefinger, a long-time friend and collaborator of The Residents, was encouraged by the group to record his own material for their label. The Residents co-produced the single, performing backing instrumentation, and the b-side "Smelly Tongues" is a cover version of a song from the Residents' first album, Meet The Residents. Convinced that "The Spot" would be a resounding commercial success, Ralph pressed 35,000 copies of the 7" record on translucent blue vinyl.
