The Barn

:"This article is about the recording studio. Three arenas are affectionately nicknamed "The Barn", see the St. Louis Arena, Williams Arena (Minnesota), and Windsor Arena (Ontario).
The Barn is the name given to the recording studio on the property of Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, located near Burlington, Vermont. Its location is a closely guarded secret. It was reconstructed between 1996 and 1998 from an existing structure, the Alan Irish Barn. The Barn has been used by Phish to record their final three albums, and has hosted most of Anastasio's projects since 1999.

Until 2006, The Barn Studio was Trey's state-of-the art recording and rehearsal facility located in rural Vermont just outside the city of Burlington. Reconstructed in 1996 from the 200-year-old Alan Irish Barn, the studio is nestled in the hills of Vermont with breathtaking views of Mt. Mansfield and the Green Mountains. The full-functioning studio hosted a variety of award-winning recording projects while also serving as the rehearsal space for all of Trey Anastasio's musical endeavors since its completion in 1998.

The Barn is now home to the Seven Below Arts Intiative. Following Trey's sold-out shows at New York City's Webster Hall in October 2006 (which benefitted the initiative), The Barn was transformed from a commercial recording facility into a studio environment providing accommodations and work space for artists participating in the Seven Below residency program. Drawing from the talent and expertise of its resident artists, Seven Below will work with Burlington City Arts to sponsor arts education activities for under-served populations beginning in the summer of 2007. More recently, The Barn has also hosted artists from different media for a residency period. This project is dubbed the "Seven Below Arts Initiative". The Fifth Ball

On June 24, 1999, Phish performed a warm up gig at The Barn in preparation for their summer tour. It was also a party for the cast and crew of the Jim Carrey film "Me, Myself and Irene", who were filming in the area. Carrey joined the band on stage, singing "Hey You" by Bachman Turner Overdrive and The Beatles' classic "Come Together".
