Lisnarick

Lisnarick

Lisnarick (derive|Irish|Lios na nDarog|The Fort of the Oaks) is a small village in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, situated between the County Tyrone border and Lower Lough Erne. In the 2001 Census it has a population of around 250. It lies within the Fermanagh District Council area.

The village itself is mainly residential with one multi-purpose store, restaurant and filling station. There is a sub-post office just opposite this establishment. The centre of Lisnarick must be the village green, complete with oak trees and a row of cottages at one side. A new development of housing flanks the other side on the grounds of an old hotel. This will almost certainly double the size of the village and also increase retailing opportunities.

Lisnarick now has a new development where the Golden Pheasant or Drumshane hotel stood consisting off apartments town houses and a new deli calle tullina on the green.

A par 3 golf course is also beside the filling station.

Castle Archdale is based on the demesne of the Archdale Manor House, which was built in 1773, of which now only the courtyard buildings remain. That said, it is a spectacular place with surely one of the nicest forest and riverside walks in the area, if not the province.
