computer game website created in1998 dedicated to the genre ofadventure games . It publishes reviews and previews of adventure games, as well as opinion articles and interviews withgame designer s.It has perhaps been somewhat influential in bringing attention back to adventure games, a genre that was once prominent but quickly shrunk in significance during the late 90's. A number of staff members have been hired byTelltale Games . The site maintains itseditorial independence by assigning reviews of Telltale products to other members of the staff.The site covers both commercially created adventure games and independent freeware adventure games (in its "Underground" section).
A popular feature of Adventure Gamers, amongst gamers and developers, is the "Hype-O-Meter", a top ten list of upcoming adventure games determined by reader polls and the editorial staff.
Prior to May 2002, Adventure Gamers was known as Adventure Gamer (no "s"). The change of name was necessitated by the loss of the original adventuregamer.com web address.
The current layout of the site has been in place since a major redesign on January 21, 2005.
