Nicole des Jardins Wakefield

Nicole des Jardins Wakefield (Senufo: Ronata, born 6 January 2164) is a fictional character and the central protagonist of the three sequels to Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee. She is an African-European woman, of heritage from both France and the Ivory Coast (Senufo ethnolinguistic group). She initially serves as medical officer on the team exploring the second Rama spacecraft, then becomes one of three astronauts that remain on Rama and journey out to the stars. She is able to receive messages from her Senufo ancestors in her dreams.

Nicole has appeared in three Arthur C. Clarke books: Rama II, The Garden of Rama and Rama Revealed.

Amy Hunter portrays her in PC game RAMA by Sierra Entertainment.

Children of Nicole Des Jardins

Nicole's children, except for Geneviève, born after she and her colleagues are marooned on Rama, are the core of the community the explorers have formed.
