Early life and career

Lewin is originally from Rochester, New York and got his start in broadcasting as the radio commentator for the Rochester Red Wings at the age of 21 after graduating from Northwestern University.

Major League Baseball

He went on to call baseball games for the Baltimore Orioles on the radio in 1995 and 1996, on TV for the Chicago Cubs on WGN in 1997 and on TV for the Detroit Tigers from 1998-2001 on FSN Detroit. He has been the TV voice for the Texas Rangers since 2002. In 2000, Lewin was the first-ever recipient of the prestigious Ty Tyson Award for Excellence in Sports Broadcasting, awarded by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association.

Lewin also is one of the voices for FOX's coverage of Major League Baseball, working with his own broadcast partners and occasionally subbing for lead play-by-play man Joe Buck (opposite Tim McCarver) when Buck is on other assignments (namely his NFL duties, on which Buck is also the #1 voice).

National Football League

During football seasons past, Lewin served as both a sideline reporter and play-by-play man for "The NFL on FOX", and called NFL games for SportsUSA/Jones Radio. Since 2005, Lewin has been the radio voice of the San Diego Chargers. Lewin is contracted to broadcast Charger games until at least the 2009 season.

On August 26, 2006, Lewin provided television play-by-play for Fox Sports' "FOX Saturday Baseball" game of the week between the New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. That game took place at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. When the game was over, he traveled 90 miles down to Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego to provide radio play-by-play coverage of the San Diego Chargers' NFL preseason game vs. Seattle Seahawks for the Chargers Radio Network's flagship station, KIOZ (Rock 105–3). This is similar to Ted Leitner's time as both announcer for the Chargers and the Padres when he broadcasted a Chargers game then traveling to join the Padres broadcast late in the baseball season.

National Hockey League

Lewin has also subbed in as the Dallas Stars play-by-play man when Dallas' usual lead voice, Ralph Strangis, was recovering from a car accident in 2003. He has also done play-by-play for FOX NHL Saturday and FSN Detroit's coverage of CCHA hockey.

Personal

He currently resides in Southlake, Texas with his wife Dana, his daughter Kelsey, and his son Coby.
