Thomas J. Herlihy, Jr. is an American politician. Herlihy, a Republican, has been a state senator from Connecticut since 1999.

Herlihy, a resident of Simsbury, represents the northwest suburbs of Hartford in the Farmington Valley and Litchfield County in the Connecticut Senate, including the towns of Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, Granby, Hartland, Harwinton, New Hartford, Norfolk, Simsbury, and Torrington.

Herlihy was born Queens, New York and received a B.S. in Education from the University of Hartford. From 1987 to 1990, Hurlihy was on Simsbury's Board of Selectmen. Herlihy is a ranking Republican Senator for the General Assembly’s Education Committee, the General Assembly’s Energy and Technology Committee and the General Assembly’s Select Committee on Children.

Herlihy has announced he will not seek re-election in the 2008 elections.
