Bead blasting

Bead blasting

Bead blasting is the process of removing surface deposits by applying fine glass beads at a low pressure without damaging the surface. It is used to clean calcium deposits from pool tiles or any other surfaces, and removes embedded fungus and brightens grout color. This process is notably used as an efficiently popular way to clean tile surfaces in swimming pools. It is also used in auto body work to remove paint.

What is the process of bead blasting a swimming pool?

First the pool level is lowered so that all of the tiles are exposed for proper cleaning. Then the clean look of the pool tiles are gently restored through the gentle bead blast process. Upon completion, a special bonding or sealing agent is applied over the newly cleaned tile to give it a new gloss look while providing a level of protection which in turn makes weekly cleaning easier. Lastly, all fine glass beads are removed from the pool floor through external vacuuming equipment.
