(1997)"Ring Of The Dolphin" is an album by German
cross-cultural new age band Cusco. It was released originally in1989 asRing der Delphine under the Prudence label, but was completely re-recorded in1996 and released onHigher Octave as this album. The liner notes have a long story that traces the history of rings with dolphins on them, from antiquity to the construction of the
Suez Canal , claiming to be from an upcoming novel which so far has not been released. Compared to other Cusco albums, Ring of the Dolphin is much more varied, and ranges in style from Celtic to almost Medieval, whilst conceptually focusing on the ancientMediterranean . This album contains the complete "Bur Said" (Port Said; pronounced "sa-EED") and "Djebel at Tarik", which were considerably shortened for the classicWater Stories release. Compared to the originalRing der Delphine , the tracks have a more clear, crystalline sound quality to them, but there are some other sight changes as well. For instance, "Waters of Cesme" originally had a certain percussive beat in the middle of the song that has been removed for this version, and "Bur Said" has a bassier sound and some of the melodies in the very ending section have been removed so that the track fades back into solo guitar.Track listing
