BSoD (disambiguation)

BSoD is the abbreviation for
* Black Screen of Death — a failure mode of Windows 3.x and a system or application error screen in OS/2
* Blue Screen of Death — a system error screen in all versions of Microsoft Windows

The original abbreviation referred to the Windows 3.x failure mode, but over time the system error screens came to be referred to as "screens of death" too. The Jargon File suggests that the term was originally an allusion to the "floating head of death" in a popular "Far Side" cartoon.
