Electoral (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1998

Electoral (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1998

The Electoral (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1998 (No. 19/1998), is a law of the Republic of Ireland which provides for parliamentary constituencies for the 29th Dáil Éireann. This was elected on 17 May 2002 and will be dissolved in 2006 or 2007.

This Act replaced the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1995 (No. 21/1995), which defines the constituencies used for the 28th Dáil (1997-2002). It was itself replaced by the Electoral (Amendment) Act 2005 (No. 16/2005), which will create a new pattern of constituencies when the 29th Dáil is dissolved.

* No.: The number of times a constituency with the same name has been created (if more than one then there was a gap before the current version of the constituency was created).
* Seats: The number of TDs elected from the constituency under the Act.
* Change: Change in the number of seats since the last distribution of seats (which took effect in 1997).

Note (a): Laoighis-Offaly is the same constituency as Leix-Offaly 1921-1961. Only the spelling of the first county name, in the legislation providing for parliamentary constituencies, changed.
