Toopy and Binoo is a kid's television series created by Treehouse TV, Spectra Animation and Harpo Productions. Original characters were created by French Canadian author Dominique Jolin.

Format

Toopy and Binoo is a cartoon about a mouse named Toopy and his best friend, a plush cat named Binoo. Each episode follows a playful adventure, usually created out of their imaginations. Toopy is the only character that speaks, and for the most part provides enthusiastic descriptions of their adventures. Individual segments are approximately 5 minutes in length, but are frequently grouped together as one half-hour episode, both on television and DVD releases.

Creation

"Toupie et Binou" was the original title of the children books collection written by Dominique Jolin. The same collection appeared in English under the title "Washington and Deecee". Binoo then appeared in a small series of his own. Treehouse and Spectra Animation then brought them to television, both in English and French version, dubbing their English names to "Toopy and Binoo".

Characters

Major

* Toopy - Main Character:A giant mouse that wears a red shirt with yellow stripes. Toopy is the main character and often gets into trouble. He and Binoo are best friends. He is the only character capable of real speech. Some of the trouble Toopy goes through includes getting lost in a maze, trapped in a fortress and getting his diaper changed. While Toopy has a male-sounding voice and appears to play a male role in most episodes, in some episodes he plays a female role, such as in "Princess Toopy", where Toopy dresses up as a princess and kisses frogs, trying to turn them into a prince. He is also appearing as a playable character in the fictional game "Super Solar Fighters."

* Binoo - Imaginary Friend:A tiny plush cat with a long tail and a pink nose, who is imaginary. Binoo can't talk out loud, though he can apparently communicate by whispering. In at least one episode, he whispered something into Toopy's ear. He carries around a green doll called Patchy-Patch, who often needs to be saved. Binoo is said to be a plush doll because he has stitches on his stomach, but in one episode, he sneezes stuffing. He is also appearing as a playable character in the fictional game "Super Solar Fighters."

* Patchy-Patch:Binoo's doll. Patchy-Patch is an old toy covered with patches. Patchy-Patch rescues Little Bo Toopy, Mermaid Toopy and Princess Toopy in the episode "Song and Dance". He also has a house inside Toopy and Binoo's blanket. He makes a cameo appearance as a giant version of itself in "Super Solar Fighters", acting as Binoo's "Special Finisher."

Minor

* Dragon:A red dragon that debuted in the first episode "Toopy's Story". Dragon plays a major role in the episodes "Toopy's Story" and "Song and Dance".

* Mrs. Dragon:Dragon's girlfriend is a green dragon with glasses. Mrs. Dragon is actually never named.

* Mrs. Octupus:Mrs. Octupus appears a lot due to her appearance in the intro. Despite that, she mainly makes cameos.

* The Three Bears:Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear are The Three Bears. They are invited to Toopy's surprise birthday party.

* Flying Elephant:A flying elephant often appears, and was made famous by the episode "Pet Shop".

* Giraffikiki:This is an invisible monster, but Toopy describes it as "giant, with scary eyes, big teeth, a purple body and silver stripes". It debuts in the episode "Giant Footprints".

* Dusteroos:Dust bunnies that steal Binoo's car in an episode of the same name. Toopy manages to distract the Dusteroos with his airplane.

* Baby Monster:She appears in the episode "Diaper Dream" and tortures Binoo by crying. It is revealed Baby Monster is crying because she needs a new diaper... and so does Toopy!

* Aunt Mimi:An ant that appears in an episode of the same name.

* Dinosaur John:Another toy of Toopy and Binoo.

* Sheep:Sheep often appear for comic relief, but they play a major role in one episode as the sheep help rescue Toopy from the top of a high tower when the door locked.

* Invisible Dog:An invisible dog causes chaos in Toopy and Binoo's house in the episode "Invisible Dog", the sequel to "Invisible World".

* Super Toopy:Super Toopy is Toopy wearing a superhero costume, and debuts in an episode of the same name. On the [http://www.toopyandbinoo.com Toopy and Binoo website] he plays a major role as he helps you if you don't know what to do.

* Toopy Clones:Clones of Toopy that are obsessed with proving who the best Toopy is in the episode "Magic Mirror". Eventually, it is decided that the real Toopy is the best because he has Binoo as friend! Similarly, on the Valentines Day episode "The Seven Binoos", Toopy creates six more Binoos.

* Peanutbutterbot:Toopy and Binoo create a robot out of a cereal box and various kitchen items. Eventually, it is revealed that Peanutbutterbot has a whole troop of clones living on another planet!

* Vacuum Sucker:Toopy accidentally creates a vacuum, which sucks up his house, the park, the Earth and the Milky Way!

* Marshmallow/Moonmellow:Marshmallows and Moonmellows appear in the episode "Moon Bounce". The marshmallow bounces to the moon and the cat-and-mouse duo chase it. Toopy realizes that there are marshmallows on the moon, called Moonmellows.
