In a level of Halo 3 you can find a newspaper piece that says something about JASON JONES MISSING. That's why in the last level of Halo 3 (Halo) you can find an image of Jason Jones in boxers floating by a wall, by going down a secret hall in a cave and grenade jumping onto a platform.

Game creation process

During the creation of the Halo series, Jones would read war journals by authors such as John Kinkaid and Winston Churchill.
