Goxhill (coord|53.677497|N|0.332926|W|region:GB_scale:1000001, gbmapping|TA102214) is a large village in North Lincolnshire. It lies about 5 miles (8 km) east of Barton-on-Humber and 5 miles (8 km)Fact|date=March 2007 northwest of Immingham. It is served by Goxhill railway station, this line runs from the town of Barton to the seaside resort of Cleethorpes. The area has been an important centre for clay pantile production since the 18th century and the industry is still represented in the village by Sandtoft [http://www.sandtoft.co.uk]

It is famous for its wartime USAAF base, where screen legend Clark Gable served for a short time [http://www.455th.ukpc.net/tomfeise/8thusaaf/bases.htm] . Robert S. Johnson, of Post Field, Oklahoma, an ace pilot of World War Two, also spent time here, [http://www.acepilots.com/usaaf_rsj.html] The 78th Fighter Group arrived at the station, known officially as 8th Air Force Station No. F-345 on December 1, 1942.
