Lesner bridge

Lesner bridge

Lesner Bridge is a bridge in Virginia Beach. The bridge is, in essence, Shore Drive (Hwy 60), which connects the bay area to the real Virginia Beach. It goes over the Lynnhaven Inlet, an inlet off of the Chesapeake Bay. The eastbound side of the bridge was constructed in 1958. The westbound side in 1967. .

According to Stephen Mansfield Stephen_Mansfield, in his book "Princess Anne County and Virginia Beach, A Pictorial History," page 151 stated the General Assembly voted to name the bridge for State Senator John A. Lesner in recognition for his service on the State Highway Commission.

As of August 2007, inspections reveal the bridge to be in poor shape, similar to the shape the Interstate 35 bridge in Minnesota was when it collapsed.
