NForce 500

The nForce 500 is a computer chipset series and the successor to the nForce4 series. It was revealed by NVIDIA on 2006-03-07 and released on 2006-05-23. The nForce 500 series supports AMD's Socket AM2 and support for Intel's LGA775 has also been added.

*Uses the MCP55XE northbridge and C51XE southbridge. The two chipsets provide a total of 46 PCI Express lanes.

*Mainstream single GPU segment, lacking SLI support, and featuring only one Ethernet and four SATA ports.

nForce 550

*Mainstream single GPU segment, lacking SLI and RAID 5 support, and featuring only one Ethernet and four SATA ports.

nForce 520

*Value/Mainstream single GPU segment, lacking SLI and RAID 5 support, and featuring only one 10/100 Ethernet and four SATA ports.

*Uses MCP65S northbridge.

nForce 520 LE

*Value single GPU segment, lacking SLI, RAID 0+1 and RAID 5 support, and featuring only one 10/100 Ethernet, 8USB ports two SATA ports.

nForce 500 SLI (nForce4 SLI AM2)

*Performance dual GPU segment.

Intel Edition

NVIDIA has also prepared enthusiast segment nForce 590 SLI and performance segment nForce 570 SLI motherboards for Intel's Core 2 processors. These motherboards will compete against the Intel 975X Express chipset, but information about performance has been withheld due to non-disclosure agreement restrictions. Some nForce 4 SLI Intel Edition and nForce 4 Ultra motherboards will also be updated to support Core 2.
