Ebor Festival

Ebor Festival

The Ebor Festival is a three day race meeting held at York Racecourse in Great Britain during the month of August. In 2006 it was held between August 22 and August 24.

The Ebor festival was first established in 1843 with the first running of the Ebor Handicap.

Each of the three days has feature races.

Tuesday is called Juddmonte International day and features the Juddmonte International and the Great Voltigeur Stakes.

Wednesday is Ebor Day and features the Ebor Handicap and the Yorkshire Oaks.

Thursday is Ladies' Day and features the Lowther Stakes and the Nunthorpe Stakes.

The 2008 Ebor Festival had to be abandoned after a spate of wet weather left the course waterlogged and unfit for racing. It was the first time in the event's history that the entire card had to be scrapped due to bad weather.
