HMS Conway

Several ships of the Royal Navy have been named HMS "Conway" after the town of Conwy in Wales, formerly known by its English name of "Conway".

The most famous "Conway" was school ship HMS "Conway" established in 1859. She occupied several ships, all called "Conway" until 1953 when her last floating home ran aground and broke her back. The wreck burned to the waterline in 1956; the school continued on dry land as a "stone frigate" until 1974.

Other "Conways" include:
* HMS "Conway" (1813) a 20 gun vessel built by John Pelham of Frindsbury laid down in 1812.
* HMS "Conway" (1820)
* HMS "Conway" (1825)
* HMS "Conway" (1832) "The first"
* HMS "Conway" (1832), in 1861 became HMS "Winchester"
* HMS "Conway" (1861-1876) previously HMS "Winchester", later HMS "Nile" and then "Mount Edgecombe".
* HMS "Conway" (1876-1953), previously HMS "Nile" from 1826 – 1876.
