Sumitra Singh (
Hindi :सुमित्रा सिंह ) (born 1930) is a politician from Indian state ofRajasthan . She is currently speaker ofRajasthan Legislative Assembly .She is the first woman speaker in Rajasthan's history. She won 2003 assembly election onBJP ticket. She was unanimously elected Speaker of the 12th Rajasthan Assembly. She is a senior Jat leader from theJhunjhunu district inRajasthan ; Mrs. Singh was elected to the Assembly for the nine out of twelve term (1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1985, 1990, 1998, 2003) from theJhunjhunu constituency.She was earlier in
Indian National Congress party and has been cabinet minister inGovernment of Rajasthan .Birth and family
She was born in village of
Kisari inJhunjhunu district in the family of Shri Ladu Ram Choudhary on 3 May, 1930. She has done M.A. in Hindi Literature.She is married with Shri Nahar Singh, (
Kadwasra gotra) ofPatusahri village in the district ofJhunjhunu on 2 June, 1952 and is mother of three sons.Membership of Legislature
