Kilburn tube station

:"See also: Kilburn Park tube station"

Kilburn tube station is a London Underground station at Kilburn in north-west London. It is on the Jubilee Line, situated between Willesden Green and West Hampstead tube stations. It is in Travelcard Zone 2. Metropolitan Line trains pass through the station, but do not stop.

Trains "drive on the left" (i.e. northbound trains on the west track, southbound on the east). The single two-sided outside platform serves trains travelling in both directions. The exit is at the south-east end of the platform. There is also a lift available next to the exit.

The station is situated on a viaduct crossing the main A5 trunk road at the north end of a stretch known as Kilburn High Road. It is approximately convert|1|mi|km|1|lk=on south of the Cricklewood area and convert|200|m|ft|0|lk=on north of Brondesbury station.

It opened as "Kilburn and Brondesbury" on 24 November, 1879, as part of the Metropolitan and St. John's Wood Railway run by the Metropolitan Railway. Following the merger of the Metropolitan Railway into London Transport in 1933, it then became part of the Stanmore branch of the Bakerloo Line on 20 November, 1939, at which time the station was extensively rebuilt. The station was renamed to its current name on September 25, 1950. It was transferred to the Jubilee Line on its opening, on 1 May, 1979.
