* Monday, December 3 - News reports state that Australian, British, French, German and Russian special forces are on the ground in Afghanistan in addition to U.S. special forces and marines.

* December 18 - According to a December 18 2001 article published in the "New York Times" the US and Northern Alliance had started to diverge over the American aerial policy.
