Civil Aviation Authority

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is the name for the national body governing civil aviation in a number of countries. This is done based on the ruling of the UN organisation ICAO.

Often you will see a division between the CAA (the Regulator) and the ANSP (the Air Navigation Service Provider).

An example of a regional Regulator is European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Cooporation among ANSPs is made via Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO] .
