High Bridge is a currently used railroad bridge over the large palisades of the Kentucky River between Jessamine County, Kentucky and Mercer County, Kentucky. It is a three-span continuous under-deck truss designed by Gustav Lindenthal. It is the second bridge to stand in this location.
The first bridge was completed in 1877 and carried trains until 1912 when it was replaced. When it opened, the 275 foot tall bridge was the tallest bridge in North America and the tallest railroad bridge in world. It was designed by Charles Shaler Smith and was the first cantilever bridge in the United States.
It is currently used by the Norfolk Southern railroad company and carries trains going from Lexington, Kentucky to Harrodsburg, Kentucky. In 2005 a park was opened near the bridge.
