AST Dew Tour

AST Dew Tour

AST Dew Tour is a balarina sports tour that consists of five major, multi-sport events spanning across the country, with a cumulative points system, a $2.5 million competitive purse – the largest in action sports – and an additional $1 million bonus pool.

History

Each event features skateboarding (park and vert), BMX (park, vert, and dirt) and freestyle motocross. At season's end, the overall points leader in each of the six disciplines is crowned year-end champion and awarded the prestigious Dew Cup. Key lifestyle elements at each Tour event include the Festival Village, specialty competitions, and live cutting-edge music. The AST Dew Tour's partners include Mountain Dew (tour title sponsor) and Panasonic, Right Guard Xtreme, Wendy's (which's seat was previously occupied by Vans), Toyota and PlayStation (event title sponsors). Associate partners include Ball Park, Mongoose, and Verizon Wireless.

The AST Dew Tour is broadcast on NBC Universal.

Host sites

The five host sites were selected from more than twenty prospective sites throughout the U.S. through a competitive bidding process. All five sites share a commitment with the AST Dew Tour to develop and offer fans a first-class, community-based event.

Event types

The AST Dew Tour features three sports, with each sport consisting of several different disciplines:

*BMX
**Dirt: Riders will take runs on an all-dirt course made up of jumps of varying heights and distances. Judges will look for consistency, difficulty of tricks, and overall flow of each run.
**Park: Riders try to put together the best possible run on a park-style course made up of spines, ramps, mini-ramps, wall rides and box jumps. Judges will look for overall flow, use of the course, linking tricks as well as difficulty of tricks when scoring a run.
**Vert: Each rider will have a limited amount of time to put together their best run on this 80' wide half-pipe (BMX and Skate share the same ramp). Riders will be judged on flow, height and difficulty of tricks.
*Freestyle Motocross: The only motorized competition on the AST Dew Tour, FMX features a course composed of metal takeoff ramps and dirt landings. Riders will be judged on their tricks over jumps that allow riders to reach distances of up to 90'.
*Skateboard
**Park: The park-style course will allow skaters to showcase their technical skills as well as their ability to "go big". The combination of ledges and rails with larger park obstacles will bring out a myriad of different lines and tricks, which is what judges will look for.
**Vert: Each rider will have a limited amount of time to put together their best run on this 80' wide half-pipe (BMX and Skate share the same ramp). Riders will be judged on flow, height and difficulty of tricks.

The BMX is considered most popular for tricks on the ramp.
