Soft Skull Press

Soft Skull Press is an independent publisher founded by Sander Hicks in 1992. It is currently run by Richard Eoin Nash and is owned by Counterpoint LLC.

It has published an array of fiction and non-fiction by authors such as Mark Ames, Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, Paul Berman, Lisa Crystal Carver, Dennis Cooper, Brian Gage, Douglas A. Martin, William Upski Wimsatt, James Hatfield, Maggie Estep, Nick Mamatas, Lydia Millet, Daniel Nester, Wanda Phipps, Genesis P-Orridge, Nate Powell, Jack Sargeant, K. Thor Jensen, Lynne Tillman, Ken Dolan-Del Vecchio and Tim Wise.

Awards

In 2007, Michael McColly's "The After-Death Room" won the 2007 Lambda Literary Award for Spirituality. In 2004, Soft Skull Press won the 2004 Lambda Literary Award for Transgender/GenderQueer with Charlie Anders' book "Choir Boy".
