Jason King (journalist)

Jason King is a music journalist who writes articles for magazines such as "Vibe", "The Village Voice", and "Blender".

He served as interim chair in 2002; and associate chair from 2003-2006 of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Department of Recorded Music. He also arranges vocals in R&B and dance music.

In February 2005, he produced a groundbreaking tribute conference to hip hop group Public Enemy called "The Making of It Takes a Nation of Millions" at New York University. The large-scale event was covered in the mainstream press. It featured Chuck D, Fab 5 Freddy, producer Hank Shocklee, Daddy-O of Stetsasonic, Vernon Reid, and Will Calhoun of the rock group Living Colour, photographer Glen E. Friedman, journalists like Robert Christgau, Greg Tate, and Armond White.

That same year, King produced a tribute to Roc-a-Fella Records featuring hip hop CEO Damon Dash with performances by Def Jam artists Nicole Wray and Rell.

King was also one of the organizers of another conference on disco artist Sylvester which included performers like Grammy Award winner Martha Wash of C&C Music Factory and "Billboard" dance artist Kevin Aviance with scholars and journalists like Jim Fouratt, Barry Walters of "Rolling Stone", and Joshua Gamson (who wrote the popular biography entitled "The Fabulous Sylvester").
