List of heads of state of Gabon

Three people have served as heads of state in the history of Gabon since independence was obtained from France on 17 August 1960. This list includes not only those persons who were sworn into office as President of Gabon but also Jean-Hilaire Aubame, who served as the "de facto" head of state for a day after a coup that deposed Leon M'ba.

The numbering reflects the uninterrupted time in office served by a single person. For example, incumbent Omar Bongo is serving his fifth consecutive term and is counted as the 4th president, instead of the 4th through 9th. Leon M'ba's first term was interrupted by the above mentioned coup and is counted as both the 1st and the 3rd president. Because of this, the list below contains four presidencies, but only three presidents.
