Robin Tyner (born Robert Derminer December 12 1944September 18 1991) was lead singer for the American hard rock band MC5. His adopted surname was in tribute to the jazz pianist McCoy Tyner. It was Robin Tyner who issued the infamous rally cry of "kick out the jams, motherfuckers" at the MC5's live concerts.

In 1977, Rob Derminer collaborated with Eddie & the Hot Rods for a seven inch release coinciding with a promotional UK tour to promote MC5 vinyl reissues. Simultaneously back in America, Rob had launched "the New MC5" which later operated as the Rob Tyner Band and laid the seeds for "Rob Tyner & the National Rock Group", a project which was prolific but never was able to secure a deal for any releases. In 1985, Rob donated his talents to a Vietnam Vets benefit Lp. Rob dipped in to the song catalog of the National Rock Group for 1990's Blood Brothers CD and plans were afoot to pick up the pace on the gig front, including plans with Blackfoot drummer Jakson Spires when unexpectedly Rob died of a heart attack in the seat of his parked car in his home town of Berkley, Michigan.

Tyner and the MC5's radicalism laid the seeds for future musicians to blend politics and song, manifested in bands such as The Clash, and Rage Against the Machine who covered Tyner's composition Kick out the jams. Tyner remained an advocate for high energy rock up til the very end. Just prior to his passing, Rob was exploring computer generated art creation, and one can only wonder how extensively Rob would've gone to incorporate technology in to his multi media thumbing of his nose at the system.
