Gjøvdal

Gjøvdal ("Gjevedal") is a former municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway.

From 1837 Gjøvdal was a part of Åmli formannskapsdistrikt. On January 1, 1908 the district was split into three separate municipalities: Gjøvdal, Tovdal and Åmli. At that point Gjøvdal had a population of 590.

On January 1, 1960 Gjøvdal, then with 362 inhabitants, was reunited with Åmli under the name Åmli. Tovdal followed in 1967.
