Kingsholm Stadium

Kingsholm Stadium

Kingsholm Stadium is a rugby union stadium in Gloucester, England, and is the home stadium of Gloucester Rugby. The stadium has a capacity of 16,500 people. The main grandstand (South Stand) was rebuilt by C&D Bricklayers, a partnership in formed by Nick Cuthbert and Kevin Dunn (A former Gloucester and England player).

Kingsholm is well known amongst rugby union fans for its partisan supporters and its intimidating atmosphere, and is widely regarded as a superb venue for rugby. Kingsholm was used as a home stadium for England before they settled at Twickenham and also hosted New Zealand versus United States for a pool match in the 1991 Rugby World Cup.

In common with many grounds of English professional Rugby Union clubs, Kingsholm features a significant amount of terraced standing area. The North Stand is such a terraced area and is known colloquially as 'The Shed'. Supporters found in the Shed terrace are known as 'Shed-heads', and considered some of the loudest and most vocal Rugby fans in the country.
