Cui Yan (163–216), style name Jigui (季珪), was a vassal serving under the warlord Yuan Shao during the late Han Dynasty period of Chinese history. Cui did not attain much fame due to his failures to develop his various proposals. After the defeat of Yuan, Cui served Cao Cao and became a civil affairs official. Cui was subsequently arrested and killed in prison after he opposed Cao Cao's decision of personal enthronement.
