IO Digital Cable Service

Interactive Optimum, better known as iO Digital Cable or simply iO, is a digital cable service offered by Cablevision, available in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and parts of Pennsylvania. It includes 45 HDTV channels, interactive channels, such as games, and channels that allow viewers to browse listings of autos and homes for sale in the area, and video on demand. HD channels are free with iO. So long as a customer subscribes to the service package that has the SD channel he/she will receive the HD channel for no additional cost. Additionally, iO comes with 44 channels of Music Choice music channels. iO also offers a DVR and an HD-DVR, for an additional cost. It was the first American company to offer BBC World; however, it is one of the only companies where BBC America is not available

OPTIMUM TV

Optimum TV"' is an analog cable television service from Cablevision. It is commonly referred to as "Family Basic" or "Family Cable" in advertising.It features the first 100 channels of Interactive Optimum.

Criticisms

* Many have criticized the advertising of a "digital cable service" where many of the most popular channels are broadcast in an analog format.
* There is low compression on digital (including HD) channels being excessive, causing many to appear pixelized due to low bandwidth.
* There is a high rate of instability of the Scientific Atlanta cable boxes.
* Cablevision has also been criticised in the past for not having as many channels as other cable services, such as Verizon FiOS and Time Warner Cable, who carry the Tennis Channel, NFL Network, ESPNU, and ESPN 360
