Bob Babich (football coach)

Bob Babich is an American football coach, currently the defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. He took over this role after the Bears decided not to renew the contract of Ron Rivera. Prior to joining the Bears, Babich worked with head coach Lovie Smith during his years with the St. Louis Rams.

He is a not related to the 1968 graduate of Miami University (Oxford, OH) and College Football Hall of Fame member of the same name.

Babich was a linebacker for the Mesa Community College in Arizona from 1979-1980, and linebacker for Tulsa from 1981-1982. He was the head coach for the North Dakota State Bison football team from 1997-2002.

Babich was born and raised in the football hot bed of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania where he grew up in the same neighborhood as former Bears head coach, Mike Ditka (That neighborhood being Linmar Terrace). He was a 1979 graduate of Aliquippa High School where he started on the football team at Center and Defensive End for the Aliquippa Quips. Babich was a former Pop Warner football player in Aliquippa as well who played under the tutelage of the infamous Joseph Catroppa.
