John Cryer

John Cryer

John Robert Cryer (born 16 April, 1965) is a politician in the United Kingdom, and former Member of Parliament for Hornchurch from 1997 until 2005 when he lost his seat.

He is on the left-wing of the Labour Party and is a member of the Socialist Campaign Group. He has worked for "Tribune" and "The Morning Star". He is a Eurosceptic.

He is the son of Ann Cryer and the late Bob Cryer, both Labour MPs.

In June 2008, it was revealed that he was considering standing for the Wolverhampton North East seat, over 100 miles away from London. The seat is considered much safer for Labour than Hornchurch. Unfortunately following his poor showing at the ward selection process, it seems unlikely that John will become a Wolverhampton MP. [http://www.labourhome.org/story/2008/6/8/191410/0109]
