Heroes' Day

Heroes' Day or National Heroes' Day may refer to a number of commemorations of national heroes in different countries. It is often held on the birthday of a national hero or heroine, or the anniversary of their great deeds that made them heroes.

National Heroes' Day in Angola

Heroes Day in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom has recently^[when?] introduced the idea of a Heroes Day celebrated on October 21st^{[citation needed]}, the same day as the celebrations for the victory at The Battle of Trafalgar. Founded initially^{[by whom?]} as an idea to help army personnel in the wake of the 300th British serviceman to die in operations in Afghanistan, it has developed into a day where British people thank the Armed Forces for their continued efforts on behalf of the United Kingdom around the world. Similarly the day has also been used^{[by whom?]} to celebrate noted figures in a community, regardless of their official employment.

Heroes' Day in Cape Verde

Heroes' Day is a Public holidays in Cape Verde public holiday in Cape Verde on January 20. It remembers the assassination of Amilcar Cabral. He is remebered as a hero for fighting western colonialism and exploitation.

This is the first large scale armed conflict between Indonesia and foreign forces after Indonesia's Proclamation of Independence at August 17, 1945.

National Heroes' Day in the Philippines

National Heroes' Day (Araw ng mga bayani) is a public holiday in the Philippines that is dedicated to the memory of the nation's heroes throughout its history. Observed on the last Monday of August, the holiday marks the Cry of Pugad Lawin by the Katipunan, led by its Supreme tandang Bonifacio, which marks the beginning of the Philippine Revolution. ^[4][5]
