History

Kuyper College was founded in 1939 as the Reformed Bible Institute with a three-year curriculum. In 1970, after changing its curriculum to a four-year program, the Michigan Department of Education authorized the school to confer four-year Bachelor's degrees. Consequently, the name changed to the Reformed Bible College (RBC). On April 21, 2006, the RBC changed its name to Kuyper College after Abraham Kuyper (1837 - 1920). Kuyper was Prime Minister of The Netherlands from 1901 - 1905, and a Dutch Calvinist theologian, considered the father of Neo-Calvinism, who wrote and spoke widely.

Academics

Throughout its history, the focus of the college has always been the development of students for Christian leadership service. The college offers bachelors and associates degrees in in a variety of academic majors and offers 16 study-abroad opportunities. All students graduate with both a Bible major and a professional area major. The student to faculty ratio is 15 to 1.

Diversity

Kuyper has a strong emphasis placed on diversity. There are many different Christian denominations represented at Kuyper. Most students are Reformed, though there are many other denominations represented.
