Cheongju (청주 Korean pronunciation: [ˈtʃʰɔŋdʒu], literally "clear wine" or "clear liquor") is a clear Korean rice wine. The most popular brand of cheongju is Chung Ha (hangul: 청하; hanja: 淸河, literally "clear river" ). There are various local variations, including beopju, which is brewed in the ancient city of Gyeongju.

For cooking, Hi Soo Shin Hepinstall recommends a dry white vermouth as a substitute if cheongju is unavailable.[1]
