John Street (Toronto)

John Street is a short street in downtown Toronto, Ontario. It runs from Stephanie Street and Grange Park in the north to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Front Street in the south. John, and other streets in the area, were named after John Graves Simcoe the founder of York and the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. When what was formerly Simcoe Street, became a part of Richmond Street, what had been Graves Street, was then renamed Simcoe Street, the next street east of John.
