Bradley Newley (born February 18, 1985, in Lower Mitcham, South Australia) is an Australian professional basketball player. He currently plays for Panellionios of the Greek Basketball League. Notably, a member of the Australian national team, that won the 2003 FIBA Under-19 World Championship in Greece, where he scored 16 points against Lithuania in the final [ [http://www.basketball.net.au/fs_newsitem.asp?id=2655&orgID=1&Oname=BA&O1c=8&O10c=8 Emus win gold at World Championships!] ] . Career

Australia

Brad Newley played professionally with the Townsville Crocodiles of the Australian National Basketball League in the 2004-05 NBL Season. His efforts, in this breakout season, earned him the NBL Rookie of the Year award as well as the NBL Best Sixth Man award. In addition, he was named in the NBL's domestic All-Star team. Playing in this exhibition NBL Australian League All-Star Game he was selected as MVP. His style of game is extremely skilled, he is an excellent jump shooter and defender and has a trademark two handed dunk.

After another impressive season in the NBL, Brad choose to enter the 2006 NBA Draft. However; prior to the actual draft he withdrew his availability, and instead used this experience as a motivational tool to improve.

In the NBL 2006-07 season Newley alongside Larry Abney led the Crocs to the NBL playoffs. However, title hopes were extinguished in the finals by an impressive Sydney Kings outfit. After the disappointment of this finals exit, in a season capped by a career high 46 point performance against the Cairns Taipans [ [http://www.nblstats.com/players.php?playerid=10844 Brad Newley NBL Stats] ] , Newley announced that he had signed with the Adelaide 36ers. Yet he also noted, that his main focus was still being drafted into the NBA.

After numerous tryouts with various teams, Brad Newley was drafted by the Houston Rockets with draft pick number 54. Although he wasn't guaranteed a contract, Brad participated in the 2007 Vegas Summer League with the Rockets. Recognizing that he needed to improve certain areas of his game, Newley opted to play in the higher level of the Greek League with Panionios Athens, rather than return to the Australian League and play with the 36ers.

Greece

In the fourth match day of the A1 Ethniki 2007-08, Newley scored 32 points on 12-of-12 shooting for Panionios in a win against A.E.K. Australia National Team

Newley made his senior debut with the Australian national basketball team during the 2006 Commonwealth Games. This was a successful tournament, with the Boomers winning gold. Additionally he was selected in the Boomers squad for the 2006 FIBA World Championship. In this tournament, despite limited game-time, he averaged 8 points per game and 3 rebounds per game. Newley was selected to play in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and after the group stage is averaging 13.2 ppg, shooting at 72% from the field and 53.3% from 3pt range.
