James Prince

James Andre Smith (a.k.a James Prince or J. Prince) is the CEO of Houston-based Rap-A-Lot Records.

Prince, who for twenty years has worked to promote Houston's rap scene and rap artists is now working to promote underprivileged neighborhoods and communities. Prince recently broke ground on an "community center" he is building in his 5th Ward neighborhood that will help young children, teens, and adults to excel more in their lives.

On January 30, 2007 the Houston City Council and Mayor Bill White honored him by naming a day after him for his work.
