"Insomniac with Dave Attell" was a television show on Comedy Central hosted by comedian Dave Attell which ran from August 5, 2001 until November 11, 2004. In the typical "Insomniac", Attell goes through a particular city at night, starting out with a minute or so of his performance at a comedy club and then going to various bars, landmarks, clubs, etc. Along the way he cracks jokes with passersby and takes pictures with a disposable camera. The thrill of the show revolves around the truly bizarre denizens of the night that Dave encounters. Attell would usually consume several drinks throughout the show, getting progressively drunker as the night wore on.

Mostly, Dave wanders around cities in North America, but more recently he has been to Germany and Japan as well. The show always ends when the sun comes up (one exception was the episode filmed in Alaska, when the sun was up during the "nighttime" hours), at which time Dave bids his camera crew and the audience farewell (with the admonishment "Get some sleep!"), and looks for a place to crash.

The program ran for three seasons of ½-hour episodes on Comedy Central and then went on to produce 6 one-hour specials that were filmed in Tokyo, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, Dublin, London and the Southern US. Most of these last episodes were made out of the country because Dave was becoming too recognized in America, ruining the 'average Joe out at night' theme of the show. Two volumes of the show under the title The Best of Insomniac Uncensored was released on DVD.

The executive producer of Insomniac was Nick McKinney and the producers were Dave Hamilton and Mala Chapple—all of BorderlineTV, a Manhattan based production company. McKinney and Hamilton also directed all the episodes.

The show is rated TV-14 for mature content.
