Jit Sin High School (Malay: Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Jit Sin; zh-c|日新国民型中学) is a secondary school located in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Malaysia.

Background

Jit Sin High School used to share the same compound with Jit Sin Independent High School in Jalan Aston, but later moved into a new school compound in Taman Sri Rambai. Students attend classes from Form 1 to Form 6, and these are organized into the morning and afternoon sessions. Jit Sin High School has posted unprecedented success in public examinations like the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR)cite web |url=http://www.smjk.edu.my/school/achievement.php?schid=11&msgid=3709 |title=PMR,日新国中 共有221名考生考获全科特优(A) |date=2006-12-27 |accessdate=2007-05-25 |language=Chinese] , Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)cite web |url=http://www.smjk.edu.my/school/achievement.php?schid=11&msgid=4029 |title=SPM ,日新国中再领风骚,一共156名考生考获10A或以上 |date=2006-03-13 |accessdate=2007-05-25 |language=Chinese] and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM)cite web |url=http://www.smjk.edu.my/school/achievement.php?schid=11&msgid=4071 |title=STPM, 日新国民型中学 1名5科全特优(5A〕,4A有35名,100巴仙及格率 |date=2006-03-19 |accessdate=2007-05-25 |language=Chinese] . This success is largely due to a merit-based selection of students from primary education. The minimum requirement for acceptance to study in Jit Sin High School is a maximum of 9 points scored in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), although the requirements are much more lenient for students from its feeder schoolFact|date=June 2007.

Recent Developments (as of 2007)

In 2007, the JSHS Harmonica and Choir Club and JSHS Environmental Cadets have been disbanded as a uniformed body and recategorized into clubs, following new guidelines set by the Education Ministry.

Recently, the school has seen numerous changes made by the principal as an effort to improve the declining discipline among the ranks of the student population of the school - notably the installation of a number of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surviellance cameras in various parts of the school. Which has been touted as a waste of money and could be put to more urgent usage such as renovations of toilets and classroom. Stricter regulations has also been enforced by the school disciplinary board.
