Skybus Metro

Skybus Metro is a rapid transit system of the Konkan Railway in India.

The system is under construction and consists of an elevated track with the cars suspended below the track, like the Schwebebahn Wuppertal or H-Bahn systems in Germany. Construction of an initial 1.6 kilometre (1 mile) long test segment of track began in November 2003 in Margao, Goa. Systems using this technology have been proposed for the country's more densely populated cities like New Delhi and Mumbai, but no system has yet opened for revenue service. Installation of future systems, particularly in New Delhi, has run into pressure from some politicians as an unproven technology. However, progress has been made that Hyderabad and Pune will have a Skybus system in 2008 and 2009 respectively.Fact|date=June 2007
