Casimir IV, Duke of Pomerania

Casimir IV, Duke of Pomerania

Casimir IV (also Kasimir IV, _pl. 'Kazimierz IV or Kaźko Słupski') (*1351 - ↑1/2/1377) was a duke of Pomerania-Stolp ("Słupsk") since 1374.

Casimir was the son of Bogislaw V, Duke of Pomerania and Elizabeth of Poland. His maternal grandparents were Casimir III of Poland and his first wife Aldona of Lithuania.

He was a friend and partial successor of the king Casimir III of Poland, who made him senior of Dobrzyń, Bydgoszcz, Kruszwica, Złotów and Wałcz after his death in 1370.

In 1360, Casimir married his first wife Kenna of Lithuania. She was a daughter of Algirdas and Uliana Alexandrovna of Tver. She was raised in the beliers of the Eastern Orthodox Church. With her marriage she joined the Roman Catholic Church and was baptised again under the name "Johanna". They had no children. She died on 27 April 1368.

In April 1369, Casimir IV married his second wife Margaret of Masovia. She was a daughter of Siemowit III of Masovia and his first wife Euphemia of Opava. They had no children. She survived him and went on to marry Henry VII, Duke of Lubin and Brzeg.
