Rowland Ward

Rowland Ward

Rowland Ward (1848-1912) was a British taxidermist and founder of the taxidermy firm Rowland Ward Ltd. Of Picadilly. The company specialized in, and was renowned for, their work on big game trophies, but their output covered all aspects of taxidermy. Rowland Ward was trained by his father Henry, himself a very well-known taxidermist in his day, to whom he dedicated his book on taxidermy, The Sportsman's Handbook. Henry Ward travelled with John James Audubon, collecting and preparing specimens for the artist which were later used in Birds of America.His book on Records of Big Game is considered the main source for information on record sizes of game animals from around the world.
